Field Crop Research and Development Institute Mahailuppallama is an economic crop research centre. It is situated in Anuradapura in the North central province of Sri Lanka. They work with the mission of achieving revitalizing farmers in the field crops sector and contribute towards national food security. One of their main objectives is to develop improved soil and water conservation methods. They needed a quality water filter that could benefit all of their activities. PureHydro provided them with the Blue Wave industrial water filter.
The blue Wave water filter is one of our most purchased products. Many institutes and schools in the country use it for water purification. It has a capacity of 1500L that can serve purified water for 150-500 people. Four types of purifying technologies are used to provide water completely free from all kinds of contaminants. UV filtration is one of the major filtrations used. It does not add any chemical substances or take away essential minerals from water. Therefore it may not necessarily change the colour or taste of water. Ultraviolet rays penetrate the harmful pathogens in water and destroy their DNA structure avoiding further reproduction. RO filtration technology is used to control the TDS level of water.
The water is forced through a semipermeable membrane under pressure, it sieves all the harmful chemicals and salt dissolved in water. It also improves the taste and quality of water. Carbon filtration is the next main filtration technology used. It has activated carbon material which has a lot of pores on its surface area. Through a process called adsorption, it can easily trap organic and chemical particles. It can absorb the chemicals like chlorine pesticides and other organic compounds. A sediment filter is also used in the Blue Wave water filter to trap physical impurities like dirt, debris, and rust flakes in water. It can also prevent these biological contaminants from discolouring your water supply. Also, a pressure pump is used to increase the speed and ensure a steady flow of water. Field Crop Research and Development Institute Mahailuppallama water filter project was highly beneficial to provide purified water for all the activities at the centre.
