Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Consuming Clean and Nutritious Food and Water is a Cure for Pulmonary Disease

Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) are conditions in the lungs that cause breathing difficulties. Mostly middle-aged people and older adults who smoke suffer from these diseases. You might develop COPD if you are exposed to harmful chemicals at home or work. Even respiratory infections like pneumonia or family history with related diseases could cause COPD. Emphysema and chronic bronchitis are common COPD conditions. Emphysema occurs when air sacs in the lungs are damaged. Alveoli sacs at the end of the respiratory tract can get damaged due to exposure to harmful chemicals or smoking. Long-term inflammation of the airways causes chronic bronchitis. The lining of the bronchial tubes that carry air from one alveolus to another gets damaged; daily cough and mucus production are apparent indications of it. With these diseases breathing issues can get worse over time and might even make it difficult for you to do daily activities. However, through proper treatment, you can control COPD.

There could be several symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. You have to be cautious if you go short of breath while doing errands or climbing stairs. It could be a sign of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Symptoms of COPD are not very obvious until the lung is damaged to a certain extent and due to continuous smoking, it can rapidly worsen the condition. Wheezing and chest tightness, including mucus production (white, yellow, or greenish colour), could indicate COPD. You may have frequent respiratory infections and have no energy to do everyday chores. Your ankles, feet and legs may even swell. During the later stages of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, you might even notice unintended weight loss. At times, these symptoms might get worse suddenly. This condition is called flare-up or exacerbation.

Treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can help you to a greater extent. It is extremely important that you follow your doctor’s guidelines properly in order for you to improve your health slowly. People who smoke cigarettes and tobacco must quit. If you are being exposed to some kind of chemicals at your home or workplace, you need to avoid it immediately. Pulmonary rehabilitation is a cure for a pulmonary disease that is highly recommended to help you manage symptoms to improve your lifestyle. Having supplemental oxygen and avoiding lung infection would also be of great help to deal with this illness.
