Symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease

Be Aware of How Clean and Healthy Your Food and Water is As Part of Your Parkinson’s Disease Treatment

Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder. It has a predominant effect on dopamine-producing neurons in the part of the brain called substantia nigra. Dopamine is responsible for the coordination of body muscle movement. When the cells of substantia nigra die, dopamine levels reduce to 60-80 % you may identify the symptoms. Exposure to certain kinds of harmful chemicals may also result in Parkinson’s disease.

Early symptoms of Parkinson’s disease will be visible long before motor problems. Sometimes they may even go unnoticed. Your ability to smell recedes and you may have constipation and stooped posture. Later more visible symptoms may appear. Tremor is one of the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. One of the limbs usually starts shaking. It could even be your hands or fingers. Resting tremor happens when your limb is at rest; when you try to move, it disappears. Usually, a tremor starts on one side of your body and it will be the most affected later, even when it develops on the other side of your body. Over time, you see your movements slow down; this condition is known as bradykinesia, a sign of Parkinson’s disease. You will take time and find it difficult to get simple tasks done. You will not be able to take long steps while walking. Sometimes you may have to drag your feet when you walk. Muscles getting tough is also a symptom of Parkinson’s disease. This may be painful and it may cause difficulties in movement. There would be differences in your speech pattern which is another symptom of Parkinson’s disease. Your voice would be softer and quicker than usual.

Parkinson’s disease treatment cannot be exactly defined. However, through medication, there are possibilities to control symptoms. It can help you with tremors and problems with movements. Doctors also recommend a healthy lifestyle. Doing aerobic exercises or physical therapy to focus on balance can also help. It will help if you take care of your diet too. You could be experiencing constipation. Therefore it is advisable to consume fibre-rich foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grains. The medication you take might dry you, so you have to make sure you drink plenty of purified water to stay hydrated.
